Harry the Handyman
An old Kenny Everett skit goes:
Girl: "What we really need now is a handyman."
(knock on door)
(door opens)
Man: "Hi! I'm Harry the Handyman!"
Girl: "Great! Can you fix our spaceship?"
Man: "Nope."
Girl: "Can you fix our engine?"
Man: "Nope."
Girl: "Well what makes you think you're so handy?"
Man: "I only live around the corner."
----------------------------
I got a chance to play handyman yesterday to fix the leaking tap at the kitchen sink. I trudged outside and found the water supply for our flat, turned it off and went back upstairs. I unscrewed the taps and tried to figure out what to do next. A call to my dad was in order! He explained the process and I managed to follow the instructions, and then I made a trip to Bunnings for the replacement washers and such. Luckily, they have these little packs called "FIX-A-TAP" which has everything you need! I grabbed one of those and came home, followed the instructions on the back of the packet and voila! The dripping taps were fixed! I felt very manly. :)
