Temporary Sanity

Pam is a girl I met at skating some weeks ago. 24 years old, a massage therapist, and a lovely girl. We've been getting on really well during skating ever since I met her, so we decided to do a bit of a catch up outside of the rink.

I went over to her place on Saturday afternoon, and after playing games of Yahtzee, Scattergories and watching ice skating movies, we decided to catch up in a whole new way -- we started kissing.

No, nothing more (get your mind out of the gutter!), just that, and it was great. We did the same for a couple more days.... however....

Her boyfriend had only just recently broken up with her (a couple of weeks ago). She still loves him. She still wants them to get back together. Once she told me her honest feelings I suggested going back to being just friends, which she agreed to.

So there ya go - 3 days. The fastest hook up and un-hooking in history.

Our friendship is wicked though, so it's all good. And we'll see where she is in a few months time. I'm in no rush!

Sure was a lovely weekend of temporary sanity...

Go George, Go!

He's so flexible!

You can drag him out of places if he gets stuck with your mouse. It's quite mesmerising watching him....

Where have I been?

Sorry that I haven't been updating much lately. I want to reassure that it is not due to my life being empty and boring, but rather due to it being more of the same. I'm still active and filling up my week with fun things to do, but it's basically the same fun things I've reported on before.

Last Tuesday night I did do something slightly different. Instead of going to my usual ballroom dance class, I went to Dance Factory and did a Funk class! It was tiring and a hard workout; not to mention taxing on the brain to remember all the moves! But it was a lot of fun and something completely different. It was ... uh... interesting being the only guy in a class of 12 girls with a female teacher, but hey -- at least I didn't stick out, right? Er...

I went to my second Swing class on Friday night, and had a fabulous time once again. This time Pam came with me, who is a friend I met at skating. It was wild!

I'm scheduled in to start learning Tap beginning on October 20. I've always wanted to do tap, ever since I saw Singing in the Rain when I was a little kid. So this 8 week course should give me a good feel for it and I can decide if I want to keep doing it.

Went to a local premiere of the movie "Must Love Dogs" with some skating friends. It was a fun film with lots of laughs. A good romantic comedy that is a touch girly but still very likable. John Cusack is cool as usual :)

Went to a birthday party on Thursday and played the drums for the first time in like 12 years! There was a band at the party and when they went on a break, a group of the party revellers decided to have a go at their instruments. I jumped on the drums and was surprised at how much I could still groove. I was playing quite well and got everyone rocking out with some impressed faces. Then I swapped to the electric guitar for some crowd favourites like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit". It was crazy fun! Later in the night I had one of the best musical experiences of my life by playing and singing Crowded House's "Better Be Home Soon" on an acoustic guitar for the party. What made it so good was that by the 2nd chorus, the entire house of about 50 people were singing along with me. It was the best feeling ever!!

I drove my flatmate Cheryl to the airport Saturday morning as she is going to Bali for a week-long Yoga retreat. Imagine my horror when late Saturday night I see the news that there is another Bali bombing, with 25 people dead. I waited until a reasonable hour and then called her mobile. Thankfully she answered straight away and said she was fine, but a bit scared. Hopefully she'll still have a good holiday regardless.
